Abstract observations are something close to the centre of interest. The kind of interest that’s turning into a gallery presentation!
Presenting Monstera, Diurna, Tulipa and Ocularia Solaria. Just to name a few!
But what is it really you might wonder and I must admit that it’s not more than just a concept! It takes a camera on manual and a freaking expensive lens and some dramatic tweaks to the image in Lightroom! On top of a wide variety of daily objects and some important contrast and light settings. It’s the kind of project that you fiddle with during a world that’s devastated by a virus, restrictions. Enough said about that!

But it’s at times like these, that you have come up with a project to keep you busy and fuel the inspiration.
Abstract Observations is turning into much more but for now, I will just keep posting abstracts as they develop and let you decide which pictures that should be exhibited later. I believe that I can count who clicked on which pictures the most! They are then going to form the final curation – hence this way you can have a footprint on my work how about that?
I had to do something to pimp it even more up, right? I have decided that it need to be black and white! Also that it needs to be hard to guess what kind of object that’s in front of the camera. By giving the picture a cryptic Latin name I want to make it harder but help out to solve the quest. But did it work? Let me know in the comments.
The idea is to document 50 to 70 great observations and then chose 12-16 for an exhibition later this year.
From a technical standpoint, this series is to be printed on Epson Archival Matte – all images will be captured on my Nikon D850 with a Nikkor 60 mm 2.8 Macro lens – at the lowest possible aperture.
If you feel inspired to do something similar please feel free to use the hashtag #abstractobservation so we can gather a whole bunch of examples as a fun mutual project. So get to it!
By the way – maybe you wanted to buy a framed print in +A3. But the first edition is already sold out! Let me know in the comments if you like to be put on the waiting list for the second edition.
